R to L- Me, Josh and Finn moving out of the Tim and Billy's space.
I'm not very comfortable writing about my own history on this site, it feels a little narcassitic but it is what the site is all about really. Documenting small musical histories through stories, pictures, videos and of course MP3s. So here is some of mine...

Finally, after several years of work and a major reconstruction effort following the passing of LonPaul (aka LP) Elrich (who is all over this album- playing drums, keyboards, guitars, singing and also producing) we are proud to be offering "Lucky Epitaph" by Chris Kupersmith and Old Flames.
You can stream the album here and also purchase via digital download. Take it from someone that has been following and listening to this album as it came together over the last year- this… Continue

I've received a few bug reports and I personally can't post new blogs or use the Quick Add features in Safari. I haven't done a complete bug test but I'm wondering if anyone else is having these issues and what browser and operating system they are using. I will compile this feedback and present to Ning who powers the community portion of MFT.
Thanks! Jeb Continue

A great, lengthy interview on Microphone Memory Emotion with our buddy John Strohm including his thoughts on the, now removed, "Life Story" blogs that entertained many of us last year. John gives his thoughts on the music industry and his time in the Blake Babies, Lemonheads, solo and as an entertainment lawyer.

I'm really excited about this one! We finally have a band submission form set up so that bands, current and past, can easily set up their own page including uploading images and MP3s as well as noting which bands they are related to.
The form then cre… Continue

Quick Said the Bird is out of Bloomington and been around for about 6 months. They are definitely an Indie rock band but lacking many of the genre's more annoying tendencies. Their sound… Continue

As you probably noticed we have made some major changes to the site. I want to go over these changes in this blog and let you give us some feedback on what we've done and input on where it's going.
First off...
Design- we have implemented designs that Kevin Fitzpatrick created for the site. Although we couldn't get the community to do everything we wanted it to in terms of design I think the changes are a vast improvement over the previous "design". The new look and feel extends to the… Continue
Some good friends of mine forwarded me this info. I have helped a little with this event and would love to see some MFT bands playing the show. Contact Julie for more info julie@workonyacht.com

MFT 2.0 or is that 3.0 has been under daily development for the last few weeks. After a couple false starts the last year or so we have been able to consistently free up one of our developers at Small Box, Jordan Wilson, who is also a great designer and flash developer. A triple threat he is! We are working from the Kevin Fitzpatrick designs for the overall look and feel of the site.
I expect to launch the site by the end of the summer. I want to get it rock solid before going live if possible.… Continue
A buddy, thanks Brendan!, sent me a link to a cool blog called South Bend Power 90s documenting, as the title might suggest, bands from the 90s who also happened to live in South Bend/Notre Dame.
I was briefly part of the South Bend scene (89-92ish) and know some of these bands. In pa… Continue
I made a change today that I think will help encourage quality content on the site.
Going forward all blogs will be pre-approved and some will be featured on the home page.
If the author thinks their post is quality stuff that the community at large is interested in reading then we will consider featuring the blog on the home page. If the post isn't really intended or written with the community in general in mind then we will simply approve it and it will live on the Blogs section and wherever… Continue

I was really surprised to come across this story this morning. No cause of death is known, passed away in his sleep. I remember meeting him during the AM tour at Second Story. He was brought on as a hired gun if I recall to play the guitar parts since he didn't play on the record. Obviously he went on to have a dramatic impact on the band as well as provide a decent amount of Indie rock gossip fodde… Continue
In case you haven't heard Lila Cricket Rose came into the world this week! Kenny Childers, who many of you know and is an active member on MFT, and his wife Terra are proud new parents.
Congratulations!
Hopefully Kenny will chime in when things settle down and post some pics. Continue
that's a great picture! :)
I totally agree about Josh's influence. I think he had a big impact on a lot of people including Derek (Brando) and Jorma (Marmoset) among others. I learned a lot about arranging songs and writing parts from Josh.
I will always appreciate the impact that Josh had on my musical development. He taught me a lot about music theory and arrangement that I wouldn't have learned otherwise I think. However he feels now, I'm sure he has his reasons. I'm just glad tha...
I’ve been to a lot of house shows over the last nine years that I’ve been in Bloomington. Sometimes these shows are incredible and fill me with hope for the future of local music in this town. Other times they make me wonder why I didn’t stay home...
