The Suadetones Post

I recently was contacted about the all-too-real "The Suadetones" - the group, the cassettes, the shows, the legacy...

The Suadetones were "born" in a livingroom most likely in the summer of 1985. Later that fall John (The Convertibles) McCool set me up with the gear... it was done on cassette 4 track with a little peice of "foil" on the back of the cassette to allow all four tracks to record...)

Albums That Changed My Life...

Queen "Day at the Races" (1976)
Queen "Night at the Opera" (1975)

I consider these two seperate albums one "double" record. Essentially these were the first two albums I bought with my own money... saved up my allowance and went to Woolworth's in downtown Noblesville, IN on my bike... as far as i'm concerned there isn't a bad song on either album...

The Replacements - "Let It Be" (1984)

This album was on the B side of a homemade cassette that had The Dead Milkmen's "Big L… Continue

"What Bands Have You Been In?" (see below)

Played drums (mostly) - but didn't start playing until freshman year in Schmidt Hall on the Ball State University campus... I found a drum kit in a common area in the 9th floor lounge and started playing between introductory art classes. Some dude from 3rd floor had a guitar… Continue

The Singles: West Lafayette Armory Recollection (c. 1987)

The Singles played one and only one show in West Lafayette at an Armory show... I think it was our 2nd to last show as a band... Robert Brian Smith (Girls Can Touch and/or Snake, Baby!) got us on a bill since he was going to school at Purdue. I remember we had an ice-cold miserable van ride over from Muncie. I don't think vans in the 80's had working heaters! We got there and the time line was all messed up and we ended up getting slotted 4 hours later than we expected.

The thing that really st… Continue

Girls Can Touch (band) Purdue late-80's

Entry 1

Girls Can Touch: I recorded their one and only 24 track studio (cassette release) session "Happy Dreams" in Minneapolis in the latest 80's/early 90 or 91 (will have to look at the J-card!) - unfortunately the masters were destroyed BUT I have my chrome mixes cassette and hope to digi master them once Mr. Robert Smith (now a father of two!) gives me the thumbs up from Chicago... They were so good... Robert's still playing music (Viepa Cray - check myspace) and he returned the prod… Continue

Hi Mike,

I'm game for repackaging the GCT stuff. I don't know what it would take. I've burned the material to CD for my personal use ans storage but I'm sure you are thinking in slightly broader terms. Let me know. (keaffabe@gmail.com)

So every day and every court battle won we get closer to a Senator Franken!
I find it oh so Repugnicant and infuriating that the same terds who insisted bush’s 2000 court appointment are fighting Franken’s clear court victory(s) now. Again do as I say not as I do. Go to hell Norm Coleman!

I wasn't a member of the Beat Boys, I was the producer and they recorded an album at my studio and I also videotaped a show with them in Ohio. You can filter through and find some of their songs here:

Hey, I thought my message went to you twice. I didn't know if the "F" word was getting censored. I have a few TW copies, in a bomb shelter under the house. One can never be too careful with archiving master works. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if there was one since I live so close to Los Alamos. Are those other guys on MFT? (Hey, I'm a Franken fan, too...I was so happy to hear that he won!)

Hey, I think I said something out loud like, "No fuckin' way," your request was such a flashback. Then for some reason I thought of Toaster Wars, were you a part of that? Nice to be remembered..

I read it the same way...I became confused by the positive prose that followed - I assumed what would follow was that the music totally sucked. Glad to hear this sort of thing is happening in B'ton.
