I lived in Bloomington Indiana from 1978-1986. After Bloomington I moved to Corvallis, Oregon and later to Portland, Oregon. I had tons of family problems and needed a family, as well as a outlet for my rage. The punk scene was the perfect fit. I remember spending every free moment at People's Park. When I moved to Oregon I dropped out of high school and got the hell out of dodge (or corvallis). I met and married a rad guy named Trent Johnson in 1994. We have a 9 year old son Oliver. My life was very hard for most of my childhood and I think I have avoided the past in general, but I have been so surprised to see all of the cool folks that still exist in the world that I knew back in Bloomington.
As a child I only had a few aspirations:
1. Own a craft business (I am one crafty motherfucker)
2. Be a witch
3. Be a mother
I guess the witch part is debatable, but I still wear black almost all the time, with dyed black hair, pale skin and very crazy curly hair. I own two small creative businesses. DIY Lounge, which is a creative class space where many artistic types teach classes and Knot Ugly Designs, which is a knit crochet and reconstructed clothing business. I started both businesses with no money and no connections. I think my scrappy-ness has always been my greatest asset. Back in the days I rarely had money for anything, I always made the best of things, often bumming money on the streets for "new" vintage clothing which I reconstructed to fit me better. I feel like my childhood was a great learning ground for creative problem-solving which is what I do everyday now. I am a firm believer in what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.
I am a lefty, love the color red, don't care for small talk and always have time for a friend. Nothing has really changed in those areas. I am much less reactionary and much more trusting of my intuition : )
What bands are you or have you been in?
I am not in any bands, but love to sing. I sing karaoke mostly at my house. We have a professional karaoke system thanks to my musical, computer geek husband. Every year we host an annual Halloween Party. If you want to see the drunken foolishness here it is www.karaokebasement.com
WOW!!! Hey, you. Occasionally I do check this site. Great photos! Yep I'm still here-glad to know you are too! I do remember the hitchiking adventure...We lived. Imagine that.
ummm...wow, thanks so much for showing me all this stuff, now I'm driving everyone crazy using their computers! I think I'm about to loose my job too, cause all I do is talk on facebook, and MFT! LOL...just kidding, I LOVE U!!
Dunno what it is about some of those pics, probably the season, the lighting, and the grain but I can almost smell B-ton in the summer... Especially the one of you and mo with an empty street and Space Port looming in the distance. Have gotten more of a nostalgia buzz from most of the old pics on here but for some reason a few of yours are more of a creepy emotional teleportation thing. Thanks for sharing.
Glad to see you're doin' well. Stellar version of "Beauty School Drop Out."

Marvin P. Goldstein Where are the blogathons and heated debates nowadays here at MFT?
This show was GREAT. I kept thinking how wonderful it will be to invite PGT back to the Hoosier State for a show - perhaps in an all ages venue - where some of the young music fans and musicians can experience electronic music arising from a very ...

I doubt the dude in the western shirt is very happy about this photo, whereby it appears that the creature from Alien is about to tear through the flesh of his face. Or about being gently chin-caressed by Moz. Or about singing a duet with Chris Sw...
I read it the same way...I became confused by the positive prose that followed - I assumed what would follow was that the music totally sucked. Glad to hear this sort of thing is happening in B'ton.
