hey tom- I'll have to think that one over (the song... hmm...) I've got a great SOL compilation and live recording from Stacey b's halloween party- Need to find someone to digitize it and we can get it posted- Any volunteers?
hi tara! don't think we've met.
I finally got back to the site. Must have been nice working at the record store! I would have been broke. We have three decent stores in Cincinnati. T Two are heavily into vinyl. I haven't bought any vinyl lately, but I still have all mine - 45's, 78's and lps. The Cincinnati Library has a real good selection as well.
Musically
1. I didn't listen to much of the 90's stuff. GBV was big around here. They were from Dayton. WOXY played them quite a bit until WOXY was bought by clear channel. Now it's an alternative cookie cutter station - no longer listen to it.
2. Good to hear you're listening to reggae. I've been listening to ska - Skatellites et al. It helped this winter. I love the Scratch Perry stuff. And Yabby You. Not familar with Keith Hudson.
3. Jazz: that's about 80% of my listening these days. Trumpet - Clifford Brown, Lee Morgan, Fats Navarro, Kenny Dorham, Miles,Baker. Piano - Herbie Nichols, Lennie Tristano, Monk, Andrew Hill, Horace, Ahmad Jamal, Bill Evans. Sax - Rollins, Coltrane, Getz, Roland Kirk, Jackie MacLean, Konitz/Marshe, Mingus - can't get enough of , Duke, Art Blakey.
4. 80's: I did pick up a copy of the Bauhaus Hits?, that 80's stuff just reminds me of jet black hair and I get the willies. My wife loves to watch Charmed. The theme song is the Smith's "How Soon is Now?". I sing to it doing my best/Worst Morrisey imitation. All I get is a "your so fucking weird" no applause.
5. I have been enjoying the Dyan and Neil Young bootleg serii. Been listening to the Gourds, Jon Dee Grahamn, Big Sandy/Flyrite Boys, Steve Earle, Driveby Truckers,SCOTS.
6. Peter Green was awesome. I used to hear alot the early Mac on XRT when I was a kid. I've been diggin' the Pretty Things, Savoy Brown, Fairport (also), John Fahey. I went back to my Tull, Zep and King Crimson and I still liked it. The first Blood Sweat and Tears and Chicago (CTA) are good listens as well.
7. In the last month or so I've digging on the Voidoids, Television, The Velvets (still works for me), John Cale, Captain Beefheart, Doc Boggs, William Elliot Whitmore.
8. Went through yet another early R&B/Jump Blues kick. Wynonnie Harris, Smiley Lewis, Treniers, James Carr... New Al Green records and Sharon Jones & the DapKings.
9. Fat Possum Blues: RL Burnside (before the Beats were added), Junior Kimbrough, T-Model Ford. Other Blues: Skip James, Leroy Carr/Scapper Blackwell.
10. A Western Swing Thing and listened to the Sons of the Pioneers - "Cool Water" was one of my favs when I was a pee wee.
11. New Country: Wayne Hancock, Hank III, Buddy Miller.
Tom - God to hear from you. How are you guys doing? I'm in LA; moved out here about 11 years ago. Dwight and I and our wives went to see Paul play out here a couple of times 3 or 4 years ago - very cool. Hi to Tara also!

Doing good. I've been based in Cincinnati since 1998... Got married again in 1999... Been working for Jacobs for a little of 10 years...Project Controls stuff...Cost/Planning/Scheduling projects...mostly Biotech/ Pharmaceuticals...we have two kids 25 and 21-teen...they don't dig the infinite wisdom (mistakes) I have gained...I guess I never listened to my parents cosmic debris either

What are you and Tara listening to these days? I keep going back in time. It's tough being a relic.
