The Historic Vollrath Tavern has been in operation at its original location since it opened its doors for the first time in 1926. During prohibition, The Vollrath served as a Speakeasy until congress repealed the 18th amendment with the 21st amendment rendering the original Volstead act unconstitutional in December of 1933. Folks like John Dillinger to name just one were know to frequent the Vollrath on a regular basis, drinking and playing cards in the basement until the wee hours in the morning.
The Vollrath Tavern is located on the very near-South side of downtown Indy in the historic Southside "Sacred Heart Catholic Church" neighborhood. Located @ Meridian and Palmer...3 blocks east. When you enter the Vollrath it's like stepping back into time into an old LARGE "Chicago / Brooklyn style" neighborhood tavern as it was when John Dillinger used to frequent it. It's original ornate wood and mirror bar is still there and the entire place is authentic to it's origination date down to the old slate tile floor and restored original wood plank floors.
There are a couple of pool tables, dart machines and a gaming systems on the large flat screens.
Come soak up the nostalgia while enjoying the great drink pricing, live music and the nostalgia.
What bands are you or have you been in?
We host a wide variety of music with a heavy influence of Local Indiana artists at all times.

I also transferred the one practice recording I have of Bloodcouch recently. It's a bit strange because the battery in the PZM mic we were using to record it was dying during the recording. Lon Paul would probably have been in possession of the vi...
