Grew up in bton in IU married housing, around in 80s, and unfortunately the 90's (school), vacated shortly thereafter for SF, been here ever since. Got married in July - sorry ladies..
What bands are you or have you been in?
None that made it out of the garage. Honorary member of chiba dowa - I helped pick the trash thrown out at early 33 step shows Sang 'did you no wrong' one time for speed luxury - that was fun (thanks Ross).. also screamed into the mic a lot for the chiba dowa.

Spoonin'

Working at the Runcible spoon was on a par with Rockits. This was because of the guys I worked with. I was going through an obnoxious phase (still) and was going to school at IU - where I actually graduated with a degree in computer science.. Which was how I got out to SF during the middle of the dot com boom. But before that I was a college student hating the fact that I was still in bton, in my 20's, riding my bike around town, no car... doing what you do in bton.. make the best of living in s… Continue

The birth of the Spaz Kids

It was '83 I believe.. Mark and Bill and I had honed our obnoxious to a fine science. There was a live radio show for QAX. It was up stairs on Kirkwood on the square. At that time it was a dumpy area full of cheap nasty apartments. Rat Rondell lived down the block above where JL Waters us to be... I think the band that only played that night's name was 'Volunteer Mercenaries for Bob' and if I get my facts wrong someone please correct me. The people I remember were Seth Spicker on guitar, Don Bon… Continue

Rockits - issue 1

Rockits was a rock and roll pizza joint. I worked there circa 93? After graduating college.. Since the economy kinda sucked at the time I had to save $$ to buy a shitty car so I could move to the extended strip mall of Indy-a-no-place to get me one of them there dreaded 'real jobs'. I needed some chill time after college anyway.. and working at Rockits was great. Mrs B. - love her - was like a surrogate mom to me. I remember when I started working there - unlike most guys there I actually worked… Continue

Memorable Musical Moments growing in BF Southern Indiana

These are in no special order, just thing I remember about growing up in bton, and mostly hating it.

* Being chased by Glen Danzig with a 2x4: Early/Mid 80's? Samhain was playing at the old library... Brad, Mark and I were kinda fucking with Glen Danzig and company who was still a pre-steroid 98 pounds. Brad asked them if it was real blood on their album cover. They said it was real horse blood from a slaughter house. We the guitar player about him about his signed Gene Simmons Axe guitar and I… Continue

I can remember you guys jumpin on the couch at the square all around me driving me nuts while i was trying to chill out. and all the trash, giant trash bags of chips and banana peels. I remember the samhain show and danzig trying to kill you-- but you could run very fast.
Someone married you? That person is very special.

Yeah we loved 7-11, as I'm sure you could tell..

Yes I am the guy from the 7-Eleven, good to see you. Hard to believe that was so long ago, good times. You guys were my first connection to the Bloomington scene (and someday the scene may forgive you for that)

MIKE! Lovin' the blog posts. I saw Dick Dale open that tour here in Seattle, he popped his high E first thing. I still have it. Saw Link Wray like a month later and remain amused at his random cover choices and unique singing style. My wife still sings "born to be why-yy-yy.."

Strohm put his finger on VIDEO from that first Samhain show at Ricky's. (YouTube, Samhain, Bloomington) Trying to figure out the lineup, it became clear that the tour was the band's first, and that the Misfits had actually officially broken up less than a year prior.

This show was GREAT. I kept thinking how wonderful it will be to invite PGT back to the Hoosier State for a show - perhaps in an all ages venue - where some of the young music fans and musicians can experience electronic music arising from a very ...

I doubt the dude in the western shirt is very happy about this photo, whereby it appears that the creature from Alien is about to tear through the flesh of his face. Or about being gently chin-caressed by Moz. Or about singing a duet with Chris Sw...

I read it the same way...I became confused by the positive prose that followed - I assumed what would follow was that the music totally sucked. Glad to hear this sort of thing is happening in B'ton.
