I lived in Bloomington 1973-1991. After 8 years in Olympia, WA, I'm settled in Portland, OR with a husband, a house, a cat, and my drums. As of December 2008, I have my MLIS (Masters of Library and Information Science). And, come this May, I'll be a first time mama! Librarian, mama, or wtf, I still rock my drums as hard and often as possible.
What bands are you or have you been in?
The Fixations, The Belgian Waffles, Moe, Witchy Poo, Unwound, Hungry Ghost
How's this for a late response? A whole year...how embarrassing. I never visit this site and didn't get your message alert in my inbox. I’ve always been a bit on the spacey side anyway. Here's the testimony.
The pictures of your baby are darling. What a button. I'd like another but at 39 it may be a bit tough. That's what I get for waiting. How many little ones do you have now?
I'd love to see Leyli and others when I go home this Christmas. Tina and Estela Eaton are the only people I've seen with regularity over the years. We've never lost touch. In fact, Estela and Julian came to visit me last weekend. They live in New Jersey right over the river from NYC, which is not far from me. I've yet to see Aimee or Jean on any of these sites, but Tina and I did run into Jean in 2003. She'd just moved back to Bloomington from California (I think..) and seemed to be doing very well. Funny you saw Jenny in the Portland paper.
Sometimes I think of the last time we were all together. I was going to Ireland, and you arranged a get together at your place. It was so nice.
Yeah I'm about 99.9% sure they are the turtles I read about, fits the situation and time frame (I think) perfectly(the book mentions he sold the turtles to someone who I imagine was your roommate) . I had a post quoting the paragraph about them on one of John Strohm's blogs ( that he has since taken down) and I gave the book to someone to read so now I don't have it.
Yes I Googled your name after me, Mike and John(I think) were talking about the turtles, which was before you showed up here on MFT so I saw some info on Unwound and Hungry Ghost. There is a transsexual named Sarah Lund and I kept finding him/her at first (ha ha) I rememeber you being in the Belgian Waffles but couldn't remember if I saw you play , surely I did at least once. Anyway I saw that you were "currently" in Hungry Ghost when I found the info online, but from the wording of your profile here on MFT I thought maybe you were in between bands and just playing drums. Oh and congrats on your soon to be born kiddie (this May was it?)
I went to bed before I saw your post...
I admit it I have an odd fascination with Nirvana Kurt etc. Probably more so in the past few years after reading several books and seeing some interesting movies/docs. I had read about the turtles in Heavier than Heaven and Mike had mentioned it to me about you having ended up with them at the time. That's pretty neat from my perspective. I know Kurt was just another guy, but we grew up a lot the same way(as many kids I'm sure) so I think that's what, in part, spawned my interest. Hey thanks for relating that.
Speaking of bands to you still play in one or just drums for self pleasure? It's funny I can't remember if I ever saw you play , somehow I think I did but don't have a definite memory of it. I always thought you left B-town in the late 80's but I guess it was later or I just never saw you( Guess you had better things to do than live in the park like I did ha ha)
That's hilarious ,"sexy nerds." I had figured you had heard of the movie before. Congrats on your degree, nice to know intelligent people : )
I wanna hear some Olympia Washington stories(I know you don't live there now though)

Sara, if we could get together at some point and you could come to my house with your pictures. I could scan them in for you and we could add them to this site.
At 2:46pm on February 25, 2009, mike whybark said…
