That sounds like fun, i hope you have a good time. I'll be outta the country for most of october, but i'll be in bloomington this winter. I'm supposed to play a show with the pitbulls right after christmas. don't you miss snow?
Since we were on the subject of rock cinema, you should check out "control" if you haven't already seen it. I don't know if you were ever a joy division fan, but the film is about them, mostly focusing on Ian Curtis. even if you're not into their music, it's a great movie, and the guy who plays IC is fantastic.
Hey mary! I reread your profile story and man has it brought back so much! That first night( and sooo many others) was so much fun huh? I've been thinking about "Surfin Bird" LOL and all our crazy tapes. Your hair which was the coolest I had ever seen and a total original. Your amazing array of v neck sweaters..our "countdowns"..n'aime pas, djibouti,,donut gems..drumbeat red..earrings down our pants... you telling that gym teacher to *F* off when we were so high and he was hassling us? You being my mama hen at times making sure I wasn't straying too far..Just all that...you were just the best friend. Thanks;) Now, I'm doing really well- how about you? Did you see Sura?
Grew up in Bloomington, Indiana...looking to find the friends of Peoples Park here.. Living in Los Angeles, CA now...working for the Reelz Channel.. teleprompter op... Love it... done a little acting... and surviving... and hanging and drinking coffee and smoking cigarrettes...here in the So Cally....So, it all started for me playing in South Marching Band with Terry Arcuri...that's where I learned of the Natives! The end of 84 my step father died... Jeannie Thornberry and I were in French class together I looked and her and said "you wanna be friends" and we were ... she introduced me to Amie Neff, Antonia Curry, and Sura Radcliff at the Union one night... got my first taste of that Juke Box and I wanna ROCk... met Rat Rondell that night at said Allen Building and never looked back.. My first Album was the Dead Kennedy's with Holiday in Cambodia... I think we hit People's Park that night too... where I spent the rest of the next two years...I remember the loading dock at South where John Strohm introduced me to Velvet Underground and Violent Femmes... I remember only showing up for South to smoke ciggies at the Loading doc and then take off with Brian Friedman.. whom I spend many a morning stoned with at my house blocks from south-he was a good friend to me.... Somehow my childhood friend and I met Kirk Terry, Matt, and another friend in Greencastle.. then one night hanging out with Jan B. whom I had met during the 84 shitty xmas extravaganza... ... we ran into Kirk and Matt walking down the street and ended up meeting College Moll and Kelly and Jami.. I remember going to a party at Molls house... crashing into the stop sign on her corner while waving to everyone.. where we met the upside down willma's from Northern Indiana... they had been in Interview mag and were GODS!!! '
Ok, so ironically, I'm 17 years sober now.
David F introduced me to the Ramones.. and ended up seeing them a few times.. once at that place in Cincinnati and once at that club we loved in Indy...
Johnny Ramone snuck me in the back door... the Vogue... Saw Natives, Blood Farmers, and Killing Children, and JOT every time they played in that two year period! LOVE IT.. Punk Rock saved my ass! At some point we went to Kokomo, IN to see Black Flag... a trip to Cincy to see the Cramps.... I remember being chased by Man child with Kirk Terry... one crazy acid night...I too stopped going to regular school.. got called into some dudes office and told I'd skipped 86 classes in 9 weeks so off to Harmony I went... where I found Tom Hastings and acting... been pursuing it ever since...worked a little and found my way into production.. teleprompter...Met Chrisstina Ewing and Amy Hohimer and thought they were the coolest people I'd ever met... through Chrisstina I ended up going to school in England 86/87 which is when I left said Btown.... So many great memories of all we did there together... It was a great time that changed me for the better.... by my count at the time there were over 100 of us....I remember hanging at Daily Grind, the Runcible spoon, Discount Den, the Old Library (the best shows EVER!) yearly Sam Hain shows, the legendary story of Glen Danzig throwing Kate through the front door, Jessica is a punk rocker now, driving to indy and Cafe Espresso, Uptown, dumpster diving at Little Ceasars (that random pizza place next to White Rabbit...), ...Looking forward to hearing and remembering all
