oops! I'm thinking of Mark Pallman! silly me! That's the guy in the picture with the saxophone. yes, Mark Mallman and he's pretty good. I liked that one record that sounded like David Bowie. I think Heidi Gluck was into him at one point or maybe w...

Indy's alright...if you like saxophones! Seriously, Mark Mallman is a singer/songwriter from Minneapolis. I think that's who she means. And yeah, he's good - he's been around for quite some time and he's connected to some folks I know up there. If...

Karen, I have something posted on my page that may interest you. Check my music. I have the full show from the board. In my opinion, the redundancy started after EVOL.

Karen, I did see your request in the monster bands thread. I had No New York as a kid and really liked it. I think I even bought the James Chance record but don't recall keeping it very long - not that I got rid of it, i just don't know what happened to it.

Unfortunately, I don't have much to say about the bands on that record in particular - they came ionto my ears pretty directly, no 'zine mediation or even friends that I was aware of listened to the record, and it was years before I really figured out that the record was part of that first wave of local compilations.

However listening to it at 12 or 13 or whenever it was did imprint me favorably toward atonal and free-play styles of music. I will think about this and see if i can come up with any interesting questions but i have to say I'm sorta drawing a blank.

What are the rules mft?

Ok so am I not allowed to talk about bands who are not from indy? Or is MFT only focus on the bands who play in indy?
Not sure if this is kosher but who has anything to say about MArk Mallman? Saw him at Melody Inn last night and ....hmmmmm......trying to find the right words to describe him without comparing him to Tiny Tim. Just kidding!!
Any fans out there?

Strings Of Nashville

Ok I haven't been able to take my itunes off repeat for hours. The Strings Of Nashville is creating a masterpiece under my finger tips. Has this ever happened to you? Music inspires me to write. Which soundtracks do you consider life changing? Or all inspiring?

Currently having a Pavement relapse. It's been years since I have allowed the music to do the writing. Does anybody know if The Strings Of Nashville has ever been used in a movie? I would never went to steal the thunder of another filmma… Continue
