I gave Albini his copies of Big Hits and Hard Attack when Big Black played No Bar in 1985. Steve was a big MX-80 fan.
Hey, I have vinyl in the attic (and all over the house), but it is a fully ventilated attic I just have too damn much stuff.
I remember playing the Ramones on the radio in 1980 every week. That always got the phone lines to light up with death threats from the good ol' boys if I didn't play some Seger. Memories...misty water colored memories.

By and large, the kind of music discussed on this site isn't, and never was, played on the radio in Indiana. So what was your introduction to it? When and how did you first discover a musical underground?
How come I never saw a copy of this?

I don't have a copy of that, but I remember being a little disappointed with the outcome (personally). I was pretty studio-green, and didn't play very well, or adjust my drums properly.
I do have a copy of one of our No Bar shows that's pretty fuckin' sweet.

Also, Mark E. Smith's biography is seriously entertaining. Unfortunately, at least for now, it's UK only and a bit on the pricey side. Still worth it though.

- David Schlabach said…By the time the Primates went to the studio, we had changed our name to the Ripped vorpals ( because Terry Hollywood joined the band) Since that line up only lasted a very short time before Repellents ll commenced, and all the songs from that studio session were later done by the Repellents ll, I just refer to all the stuff from that period as " Repellents".
I have just finished transferring all those old tapes to mp3.
But the old Primates stuff ......nada...never went to studio.
