Confusion reigns for me - maybe why I did not see that article. Those were good times.

yeah the Cosby pic is great, classic mayhem. He seems to be doing well, living across the river in IN. We're playin' a bunch of shows in L-ville, trying to hook-up a couple of shows in B-ton soon. Trying to paint my house this summer but I keep getting delayed. Now it's Jury Duty for at least two weeks, ugh. I haven't tuned in to your show in a while, guess I'll try harder.

I don't think I've been down Alabama since we lived there. We were looking at real estate online and I saw that the Duboise mansion next door had been divided into condos. I hear that the Kroger on 16th is still ghetto-fab, though.

Ha! Good to hear from you David. When you find a venture capitalist willing to put up $3 mil --a year--I'll be on it. :) Very cool about your DJ gig... Play anything by Cannonball Adderly for me

The Riddle of Raintree County: How a Young Indiana Author Gave His Life for the Great American Novel

Some here may already be familiar with the story of Ross Lockridge Jr., the Bloomington novelist and IU grad (supposedly still holds the record for highest-ever GPA) whose first novel, Raintree County, climbed to the top of the best-seller lists in early 1948. It was a gigantic novel, nearly 1100 pages, set in Indiana on July 4, 1892 (though the narrative's ongoing backstory begins in the 1850s).… Continue

WFIU-Bloomington feature on John Terrill's FROWNY FROWN

Hey all, thought I'd post a link to the podcast and online archive of a 7-minute feature I did for WFIU's Artworks program last Tuesday night about the reissue of John Terrill's solo album Frowny Frown:

R.E.Memory: R.E.M.'s Bloomington album

This is an article I wrote for the Bloomington Independent back in 2001, as part of the paper's CultureShock 15th-anniversary issue. I'd be really interested in hearing any other stories about the band's stay in Bloomington during the spring of 1986:

R.E.Memory: R.E.M.'s Bloomington Album

Fifteen years ago I came home and told a friend I'd just heard R.E.M.… Continue
