I don't like to leave the house, which is a problem for a singer/songwriter type. Maybe if Bob Dylan happened by my front porch for an impromptu performance, I might venture out...

"A man cannot be made comfortable without his own approval." Twain

At work today, the "kiddies" started talking about how old they
are--of course they eventually got to me. "NO WAY. YOU
CAN'T BE THAT OLD." Which at first I felt kind of good
about..."Hey, maybe I do look younger than my age." Later
on I realized that they all just think I'm an old F*#K!

I do nicely enough Ms. Lashley. Enjoyed the pleasure of your myspace songs when I got home from work tonight, really lovely, you do well indeed. Can't help feeling as though I'm here under false pretenses; haven't lived in the area for 10 years and I'm hardy a working musician presently, but Sean O'Neil mentioned it on facebook a while back and I couldn't resist the nostalgia. AND you're my first friend on Musical Family Tree...congratulations!

So, I look back at my last message of July 20th and realize what a schmuck (sp?) I am with regard to my ability to complete tasks (not that mixing is really a task) that I say I am going to do, but don't quite.....................

I do have a pretty good mixdown of the show that was completed back in July, but I never got around to turning them into individual MP3 files and getting them on the private player to give you the link to so you could listen to them.

I will NOT make excuses for myself, but will say that a couple paying gigs got in the way along with alot of raising a 7 year old boy with lots of things that keep 7 year old boys busy (soccer, swimming, boy scouts, etc). I never have real time to do what needs to be done. OK, I made excuses. Ugh. Sorry.

Anyway, the short of it is that it is again on my radar (thanks for reminding me, seriously) and I will get to turning the wav files to MP3s and getting them on the player. I now have administrative access to the private streaming player that Jeb set up and can add "albums" and songs to the site. So no middle man there. It is totally up to me to get this to you.

I really am sorry about huge periods of delay and lack of communication on my end. I hope that when you receive the rough mixes you will be happy with them. I am sure there are things that could be done to make the mixes a bit better, but they do sound really good from what I remember in July.

Sincerely and apologetically,

Mike

Guess what I am working on right now Amy?

I should have a good rough mix done sometime soon.

Please note the following issues. In the first song, there is a place where I stoppedthe recording for a second to add a track that wasn't there (acoustic guitar) so the song has a blip in it. However, the acoustic is not there after I added the track. Don't know what happened. There is a blip in "Road to Nowhere", where the acoustic guitar finally does get added in & is there for the rest of the set. Something also happened in "Mystery Train" where everything is missing from 3/4 from the end to the end of the song. Therefore these three songs will not be able to be put up. I will send you the whole thing to listen to, so that you know what I mean.

After I am done mixing, I will then get it to Jeb so he can put it up on a private player that only you and the band will have the ability to listen to. We will not put anything up on the site for everyone to hear without your approval.

Hope all is well in Nashville.

Very cool. I always liked Nashville. I live in the Louisville area now, but go to Indy 3 times a week for work. Playing with a new band in L'ville called Hitchhike. It's one of the members of the Lovemeknots and his wife plays drums.
Glad to hear you're doing well.

The really big show was quite the spectacle. Lots of jumping, taking off of shirts; you know, the usual. How's stuff with you?

I didn't take offense. You are allowed to be cute!

I do remember that the performances were great at that show. I am really looking forward to mixing it.

Andy, yeah, I know what you're saying...the Lemonheads then instantly faded into multi-platinum obscurity. That's such a great perspective when most people have no idea the band even existed pre-1992. If anyone bothering to read this hasn't heard t…

Burd, I would never accuse you of being shy about speaking your mind. And I doubt anyone would have thought me anything but a raging snob from way back. And with the anti-Manilow snobbery of the post below, we continue to have plenty in common. FTR:…

John, it didn't seem like good natured to me when I went back and looked. It reeked of pretentious snobbery. Haughtiness. The funny thing is; I'd probably step up and say something if someone was doing it to you. Incidently, there are all sorts of t…
