Gearheads: this is my lean n' mean set-up for my current band, Electroliner. When I play the full-on rock I add a volume pedal and a wah.

I used to use the EQ for a clean boost, but the Maxon OD808 is the best clean boost I've used. I also used it as a treble boost to get that fried-out, denatured Telecaster sound, like on Captain Beefheart's Doc at the Radar Station. That was the sound I needed to occasionally cut through the chaos of the Waffles. Also, if I was playing with distortion, I could kick the EQ for an instant volume boost (for solos, etc.)

A treble booster with Fender single coils is a bit insane, but it works. Rory Gallagher used a treble booster with his Strat, so how can it be wrong?

ever consider having a compressor as the last pedal? I find it can nicely pasteurize the sound before hitting the amp, not always needed but can be nice for solos especially cleaner solos without much distortion.

The Electric Mistress died and I haven't replaced it. A little outside of what I typically do these days (guitar playing as opposed to noisemaking - not offense to noisemaking!). Bill, how do you use the EQ pedal? I know Dale Lawrence uses one, I think for a clean boost. Not sure how I'd work one in but I suspect I could find a way.

The next thing I plan to intergrate into my pedalboard setup is a looping device - though I'll probably have to lost the muff. I might get one of those mini-muffs to save room - assuming it does roughly the same thing. Anybody know? Also I've got my eye on that Boss Space Echo box - anybody checked that out? I run a volume pedal before the board as well.

Also in terms of organizing the setup - anybody have any good space-saving tips? I have a nice road case for this board, so I don't plan to upgrade in terms of size anytime soon. I've done some experimenting regarding the order of boxes and I'm happy with this sequence. The distortion/OD pedals must be in this order and must be first, but it might make sense to put the trem and reverb before the delay.

I'm down to a DOD Flashback Fuzz, a Rat, a Maxon overdrive (generic Tube Screamer, used for a clean boost) a Boss 6 band footswitch EQ, and a Morley volume pedal. I sure would like to have a Memory Man.

One of the beauties of aging is constantly learning less is more.
Look, I'm a poet!

I rocked the flerb last night, bro! It worked beautifully. Sometimes I miss having six different EH modulation effects running at once, but I just needed to simplify in my middle age.
