this is one of the pix where I think people are dancing, btw. I think I see Seth White in there too.

There were other moustaches in other photos. Christy is a member here, and I think she would've been a high school freshman at this point. She and her friend Jodi Adkins were by far the most fashionable of the HS punk girls.

I am going to say that it's Dave Mitchell in the Playboy shirt.
Thanks for the comment Mike. I took this picture from my New Year's 1984 party and I know that in this photo that definitely is Dan Lowenthal standing there kissing Irena. If you want further proof, just look at the other photos from the same new year's eve party that I posted showing an identical-looking Dan Lowenthal ---- he's in at least three other pictures from the same party dressed exactly the same way.

I think that's not Dan, it's Andrew Wagner, and the girl is Irena. They were a couple from '84-'86 or so.
Christy is the girl with short blond hair facing David Jones. Deedee Huffman is the kid in the cycle jacket at the center of the picture.
I think we did all the captioning on these deep in the bowels of Ross Danielson's main comments area, so that might still be around somewhere or other.
Thanks for the comment, John! After I received an email request for photos from Jon Taylor, I revisited my page on this site for the first time in months and found that all of my teenage punk party pictures with my detailed captions had somehow been deleted! UGH! So I had to start all over again. DAMMIT!
Based on how fucked up Barge looks in this photo from my "Welcome to 1984" New Year's Eve Party, the hour is late --- quite sometime after midnight --- making the date January 1, 1984. You sound so fuckin' Eighties, dude, when you say "This is rad" but don't get me wrong --- it's cool with me and I like it.
No one, including me, has ever been able to positively ID every kid in this picture. And that's the funny thing about it to me is that I was hosting a crowded kegger in my parents' basement and we were just a bunch of kids, late teens (or in Barge's case, early twenties) at the oldest, having a blast getting wasted on booze and drugs while blasting out loud punk rock music from my stereo.
This is the same basement room where Yellow Rain and Moto-X played at my previous parties.
Who is "Christy Davis" and "Dave Huffman?" Their names don't sound familiar to me at all.
Steve Drake, a classmate of mine from Bloomington High School South, is the tall young man on the left with the glasses and a moustache. At this party, David Jones, Steve Drake, and I were college sophomores, not high school students, so that helps explain Drake's moustache. Who else has a moustache?
I can spot Kent Berglund and Ross Danielson, who is leaning wearing a black jacket and blue jeans forward toward the guy wearing a Playboy shirt (who's he?). The guy with the dark, curly hair with his head tilted down is Dan Lowenthal, a North High School student and WQAX friend of mine and a mutual friend of Jon Taylor. Dan's looking very drunk here hugging the girl with the short, dark brown hair and her face down ---- I'm pretty sure that's Irena Calinescu from South.
The reason that this was the last party I ever hosted in Bloomington is that one of the neighbors called the police and a cop showed up at our front door saying there had been a noise complaint from a neighbor.I had to talk him out of shutting down the party and busting me, my parents, and everybody at the party! On top of that, somebody's mother kept calling my parents and yelling, "Where's my daughter?!" into the phone and a drunk girl barfed all over the floor of my parents' bathroom! Might sound funny to you, but there was hell to pay for all the stressed out shit going on behind the scenes at this seemingly "carefree" party.
I guess teen alcohol and drug abuse isn't really funny but is sure was a lot of for us for a while!
This is rad - Barge, Christy Davis (?), Dave Jones, David Huffman, Kent Berglund, who else? I like these party pix, because you have a mix of a handful of bona fide local punks mixing with the local party-down crowd. I'm surprised by how many high school students had mustaches.
Andy, yeah, I know what you're saying...the Lemonheads then instantly faded into multi-platinum obscurity. That's such a great perspective when most people have no idea the band even existed pre-1992.
If anyone bothering to read this hasn't heard t…
I'm not crazy about Michael Jackson or modern-day indie rock, but I will sing the SHIT out of some prime Manilow.
Burd, you nailed me.
I write the songs that make the whole wooooorld siiiing....
ahhhh Bullet Lavolta, their 1st 12" almost bordered on being the new Jerry`s Kids !!! Then they hit the UK with the Lemonheads & they both fell away.....those were the days lol
What gets me is people forget that punk/hardcore was NOT a private party…

Ben Blackburn current efforts for finding a band have been fruitless
Burd, I would never accuse you of being shy about speaking your mind. And I doubt anyone would have thought me anything but a raging snob from way back. And with the anti-Manilow snobbery of the post below, we continue to have plenty in common. FTR:…
John, it didn't seem like good natured to me when I went back and looked. It reeked of pretentious snobbery. Haughtiness. The funny thing is; I'd probably step up and say something if someone was doing it to you. Incidently, there are all sorts of t…
