Getting Started

AnneZ and I started a project a number of years ago (http://www.wqax.org/) to try and capture history, memorabilia, recollections and the spirit of WQAX. At the time I hoped to make it the hub for a reunion.

It's several years later, and almost time for the 35th anniversary this September. Huzzah!

This should go to the Bloomington '70s group here, but I don't think there is one - I think we can get the word out this way. There is a once-in-a-lifetime reunion this weekend at the Buskirk-Chumley with Dillon Bustin, Caroline Peyton, Ruthie Allen, Bob Lucas, Mark Bingham and Marc Haggerty. Go here for details:

I just started a WQAX Group on Facebook. Somebody would have done it eventually. Feel free to cross-promote.

I've posted videos on YouTube of the two times we had a WQAX contingent in the Bloomington 4th of July parade. It's in the Videos section on this site, or here's a link to the first one (the other one should be easy to find): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r26aqnut1kc

This doesn't happen every day: A couple weeks ago, I was on a bus returning from New Orleans when my daughter called from Pitchfork in Chicago and excitedly reported, "A guy just walked past me wearing a WQAX T-shirt!"

Those were amazing days. I occasionally hear echos of QAX in wfhb...

Here's Eric digging around in what remains of the QAX library. The vinyl now lives at the WFHB studios. This picture was taken in 2002 so I can't vouch for the state of the library today, but it looks like he's holding a Chills album.

I would gladly bury the hachet, I know Finn feels the same way. We've both tried unsuccessfully.

Hey John! Saw Elvis most recently May 16, 2008, with the Police in Orlando. In the $200+ ticket section people were so rude. I was standing thu Elvis, and people were bitching. They wanted to see the Police. Also caught him a few times at House of...

I also transferred the one practice recording I have of Bloodcouch recently. It's a bit strange because the battery in the PZM mic we were using to record it was dying during the recording. Lon Paul would probably have been in possession of the vi...
