West Lafayette/Purdue

Is there anybody else on here who spent time in West Lafayette during the '70s, '80s or '90s? I'm starting to get a complex.

Warped Tour was a blast! NOFX, Anti-Flag, Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, and The Ataris all put on good shows. Hadn't slam danced in years before this; I don't remember it being that tiring.

It looks like Squirtgun is touring this summer (mostly in Europe). I posted the Lafayette date below. Unfortunately, they keep picking dates, that I'm not in town.

Squirtgun

6/25/2009 8:00 PM at The Muse
323 Columbia Street, Lafayette, Indiana 47901
Cost: $10 advance, $12 day-of-show.
4 band blow-out with Squirtgun, Teen Idols, the Leftovers, and the Green Room Rockers.

Going to take my 15 year old son to Warped Tour in Indy this year. NOFX was the big draw for me.

Mr. Science lectured and played in Lafayette this month? I will be hornswoggled. Guess I should check in here more often.

Chris;
GIve my regards to Brad. I am in Thailand so I won't make it unless it is between the 20th and the 1st. Home for the holidays. I would love to be there and hear what he has up his sleeve. Has time mellowed the mad Scientist or has he extrapolated off on some strange tangent. I hope for the latter.

I made the commute to work today listening to the Young Lords. Aaah, the little gems of life.
J Richter Comment by J Richter on November 4, 2008 at 1:16pm
I spent alot of time gigging & hanging out in Lafayette between 1985-2001. I was heavily into the punk/thrash scene, though I think my band (Scourgin' Zombies) was probably the only thrash band playing the area at the time, lol. I have great memories of seeing Dag Nasty at some house party right off campus, playing lots of shows with TFH, Young Lords, Rattail Grenadier, Gadfly, seeing lots of bands at Morton School & the YWCA, hanging out at Von's & JL Records for hours on end....hell, the list goes on. Glad I found this little niche at MFT!

Much to my aggravation I missed Elizabeth and Tim out here opening for Mel Tillis (!) at a native-peoples megacasino. BUT! I obtained CDs by these folks and you should, like, ATTEND THE SHOW, and as you might expect: muthfackin sweethearts. Go! Yo...

ELIZABETH COOK, VULGAR BOATMEN at Spencer's Stadium Tavern
December 5, 2009 from 8pm to 11pm
Here’s that rarest of comodities, alt-country that matters. Nashville’s Elizabeth Cook comes across as a true and natural Queen of the Honky Tonks. Her big twang-heavy vocals (squarely in the tradition of heroes Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton) are ...
